Fees

Case management fees are billed by the .3 hour ($105 minimum). Case management fees include consultations and communications (in person and via email, phone or teleconferencing) with any party related to the contracted professional service. A minimum of .3 hour will be charged for any communication exchange regarding services.

Fees are dependent on the length, location, and purpose of the evaluation. The type of evaluation needed is typically determined in consultation with your attorney. You will be informed as to the cost before the appointment is scheduled.

Initial retainers range from $5,000 to $15,000 for comprehensive assessments. Retainers must be replenished when the balance falls below $1500. Brief, focused assessments may enable minor fee reductions. Toxicology to assess substance use disorders is billed separately based on the types of testing needed. Work will be discontinued and reports will not be released if fees are outstanding.

Dr. Coughlin bills at $350 per hour for investigative work and writing. A $2500 retainer is required for Court testimony based on 5 hours (one for travel, 2 for prep, and 2 for testimony) at $500 per hour.

The fee for one session of psychotherapy (50 minutes) is $350. This applies to individual, couples or family counseling. Half sessions (25 minutes) may be booked at the rate of $175.

Emails received, read, and responded to will be billed at a minimum of .3 hour ($105). Long emails or those requiring a long response will be billed according to the time spent reading, researching (if needed), and responding.

Appointments must be canceled a minimum of 1 business day in advance to avoid being charged for the time reserved. Late cancelations and no-shows are billed at $175 per event.

Fees for addiction services are contingent on the type of service needed. Individual treatment is billable at the usual rate of $350 per hour. Evaluations and recommendations for treatment are billable contingent on the breadth and depth required. Evaluations range from $3500 to $5000. Costs for toxicology screening (hair/nail, bloodspot, saliva, or urine) are billed based on the type of testing needed, frequency of testing, and number of panels tested.

Dr. Coughlin’s fee for expert testimony is $500 per hour. Fees for personal appearance in court or for depositions are billed door-to-door, with a minimum of two hours. Fees for telephonic appearance are billed based on the time reserved to assure the doctor’s availability. Preparation fees are billed at the same rate and contingent on the complexity of the matter.

Case management fees are billed by the .1 hour billed at $500 per hour ($150). Time reserved for expert testimony must be reserved and prepaid a minimum of one week in advance. 100% of the fees for scheduled testimony will be returned in the event of cancellation 5 business days before the testimony is scheduled. 50% of the fees will be returned if the testimony is cancelled 2 business days in advance. No fees will be returned if the testimony is not canceled or is canceled late.

The price to have a QEEG completed is $500. This will need to be completed before neurofeedback training can begin. Each brain training session is $80.

Additional biofeedback and photobiomodulation treatments are available separately or as add-ons to brain training. Fees are contingent on services recommended or requested.

For veterans, a QEEG is $300 and each training session is $40.

The initial retainer for Guardian ad Litem (GAL) investigations is typically $5,000. This retainer will increase to $10,000 if the matter is complex or travel is required. Services are billed at $350 per hour. Travel costs may be billed outside the retainer agreement. Daily rates are available when travel is required.

Dr. Coughlin has completed specialized training to provide services within Collaborative Law. As a mental health professional, she typically serves as a facilitator for the collaborative team working to assist families transitioning from partnership to separate households. A retainer is required prior to beginning a collaborative process.

Services are billed at $350 per hour. The typical retainer is $5,000. The retainer is replenished when the balance reaches $1,000.
